On the other hand, we've really wanted a notebook for a very long time and have to admit that needing to upgrade to accomodate my husband's project is pretty much just the 'reason' we need. If we could get by without that Intel processor, we'd probably make do with what we've got. So we do with what we can as long as we can. No cell phone, no iPod, no iPad, no home wireless network, no streaming media. A couple of old MP3 players, PPC G5, and a vintage Inspiron 3800 that someone didn't want any more is about it. Further, they just told me that my version (2.5.2), is not supported by Mac OS Mountain Lion (I havent upgraded yet, is this true).

You really do pick up so much just by being in the environment where people are using things to get work done.
